Check out our latest interview with this months winner Adrake and his film Run!
Firstly congratulations on winning, your video is excellent!
Tell us a bit about your film, what was the inspiration for it?
I don't know that there was just a single inspiration for it. I am a fan of action movies and I wanted to go out and get some action shots. My parent own a farm, so we took a trip there and scouted out the woods and started shooting it. So, I guess my inspiration would be action movies!
How long was production and did you do much post-production on it?
Production was one full day from about 7a.m. till 4p.m. so it wasn't too bad, accept for the fact that I ran my butt off all day! haha. I actually did all the post production in Final Cut.
We notice that you are the star of the video as well as director, how big was your crew?
It was a 4 man crew including me. There was me as the actor/director and Billy Stroud who was the amazing DP. He did awesome work and he is the man! He shot it by hand with no steady cam and was riding on a 4-wheeler. He wasn't in the seat either. He was either hanging off the back or the front. He almost died a couple times that day... Stephen Arends was my 1st AD and was driving the 4-wheeler, which he had never driven one before either. So, as you can see it was a dangerous set...haha. Austin Francis was the sound guy running boom, and that was it. Well, if you want to include my mom as the still photographer there was that as well...
How was the music bed composed?
I originally just put an up beat song to it that is called block rockin' beats, but for the competition I had to come up with my own thing. So, I composed something in garage band to match with the running and a little bit of that song. It took me about a day to do that.
What kind of camera did you shoot on?
We shot on a panasonic hvx.
Do you have any other productions lined up?
I do! A lot of them actually. I am planning on doing a chic chic flick film, and a film noir by February. I am also planning on doing another little something like my film "Run!" I have met with a few martial arts guys and they are choreographing a fight for me. So, I will get Billy again and we will try to shoot something similar to run, but fighting. We're going to do the fast and slow motion thing again like you see in 300 and other action films.
Is filmmaking something you want to do as a career or is it just a hobby at this stage? Are you involved in any other areas?
Most definitely! I love to make films, and I want to do it as a career. My love is directing! I've done just about everything on set such as; directing, acting, pa, dp, sound, gaffer, grip, and just about all there is to do on set.
Thanks for the feedback Adrake and we look forward to seeing more from you!
