What is the purpose of the site?
The fundamental purpose of Doc Sniper is to award up-and-coming video/film/web/phone based film-makers with a contract for broadcast and awarded funds for their winning entries. It’s also a forum/platform for like-minded people to discuss relevant issues and new techniques in all video/film/web/phone technologies. But first and foremost it’s FUN.
Why should we pay to enter into a competition?
What is a "shot"?
A shot is a entry fee into a competition. You can purchase either a single shot or packages of shots
What are "packages"?
Packages consist of shots (e.g.: 3, 6, or 12 shots). The higher the amount of shots (e.g.: “12 shot package”) the cheaper each shot becomes for entry into a competition. Buy bulk and save!
How long are my uploaded shots valid for?
1 Shot wonder: 1 month
3 times lucky: 2 months
Six Shooter: 3 months
The Dirty Dozen: 6 months
What is a "credit"?
Credit is a point-based system that can be awarded to members and subscribers alike for referring new “potential members” who'll either become subscribers or members who purchase shots. Once a member or subscriber-accumulate enough credit they can redeem this credit for shots. Please note: subscribers will receive DOUBLE CREDIT points for referring.
How are videos judged?
All submitted videos will be given a vote by other members/subscribers until the end of the competition. Once the scores are tallied up, the winner will be announced by Doc Sniper. That winner will be awarded the monthly contract and funds/jackpot for that competition.
How do I vote?
To vote for a video please login and visit the "contests" tab at the top of the page. Once there you will see each video in the contest has a first, second and third button below it. To vote simply rank the videos you choose as first, second and third by clicking on the appropriate button. You will not receive a confirmation but if you log out and then in again you will see that your voting preferences remain highlighted and can also be changed if desired. Please note that voting is entirely separate from star rating system that appears on the individual video page. Members are not able to see the vote count for the contest but they can see the ratings.
What happens if there’s a tie.
In the event of a tie the final judgement will be made by Doc Sniper. Please see the Terms and Conditions for more information.
How does the jackpot work?
For every entry into the competition a set amount is added to the pot.
How often can I win?
Currently there is one winner per competition.
Is membership on DocSniper.com free?
Yes!
Why does it cost to enter a competition?
Basically it costs money to run the site, and we believe in being upfront with you guys.
To keep this going, and to make it the best it can be for you and your buddies, we need to allocate small entry fees. That way we can make this site the best on the net - it’s NOT run by any huge corporation or a bored billionaire, it’s a bunch of people just like you. We want this to be YOUR site and we want you to have your say (and we will listen!). But, the real deal is that it takes money to do this. If everyone pitches in we can make this the best there is!
Is Doc Sniper open to anyone?
Yes… if you’re above the age limit and can breathe, you are welcome. To enter into competitions you need to be at least 18 years of age or above (Due to the money involved)
How do you send us the awarded funds?
Via PayPal.
What if I don't have a PayPal account?
We would encourage you to register for a PayPal account. It's fast, secure and totally easy. Still don't want one? We'd have to send you a cheque as a last resort.
Can you cross-post videos from other sites to Doc Sniper?
Yes
How to get a lost password/username?
Enter the e-mail address you registered on this page and we'll send you a new one.
What about merchandising?
Our DocShop has Doc Sniper tees in amongst a bunch of other cool shirt designs. We will also be running competitions where you can submit your own designs from time to time
The website keeps asking for password and login even though I put in my username and password correctly?
This could be due to the way cookies are set to be handled on your system, so here are the steps to check your cookies for your browser.
- Go to the Tools menu
- Choose "Internet Options"
- Select the "Privacy" Tab
- Choose "Advanced"
- First and Third Party Cookies should be set to "Accept".
- The steps described above are for Internet Explorer, but should be similar for other browsers. We strongly recommend using a modern, web standards-compliant based browser, such as Safari, Chrome or Firefox over Internet Explorer.
- If your cookies are not set to be accepted by your browser, please change this setting and try logging in again.
How do I change my password?
- Login to your Doc Sniper account.
- On your members page, click the 'Edit Profile/Account' link.
- Go to the Account Info tab
- Enter your old password in the Old Password field
- Enter the new password in the 'Password' and in the 'Retype Password' fields.
- Click the 'Save & Update' button at the bottom of the page.
Can I change my user name?
Unfortunately, the user name can not be changed.
What are "tags"?
Keywords assigned to videos are called "Tags". The purpose of a tag is to help describe or identify a video. Tags help you label videos that you upload so that other people can find them more easily.
How do I remove/delete a video?
To remove/delete one of your videos, simply log in to your account and click on the "My videos" link, located in the user panel (top right of the page) or go directly to My Video page. Click on the "Delete this video" button next to the video you would like to remove. You can only delete videos that YOU have uploaded.
